Desert Rose Mineral Specimen skull carving. Desert rose is the colloquial name given to rosette formations of crystal clusters of gypsum or baryte. The ‘petals’ are crystals flattened on the c crystallographic axis, fanning open in radiating flattened crystal clusters.
